Paula is a happy
and a contented cat. She lives with her human family in an idyllic Austrian mountain valley. Meadows and forests spread out all around the house, and the air is pure and clear. Sometimes, when Paula is lying in the sun and her eyes start to close, she dreams of earlier times. Then she stretches and bends, and it is almost as if she is smiling because she is doing so well today. When Paula was born, it seemed she only had a short life ahead of her. Together with her siblings, she was thrown into a garbage can and threatened with starvation. The young cats were rescued and taken to the animal shelter. Paula finally found friends there and was therefore not at all pleased when Anette and Jörg appeared at the shelter and took her home with them. Gradually, however, Paula began to feel at home with Grete Hummel and Berthold Brösel and their family, who lived in a strange triangular house. But one day, Gerte Hummel and Berthold Brösel decided to emigrate. Paula was very excited—changes all over again! The children and the cat were packed into a caravan, and the journey into a new life began. Paula tells of the big and small adventures she experienced.
